Danielle Wyatt congratulates India and Hanuma Vihari for Melbourne Test victory
India won their 150th Test match.
India won the third Test against Australia by 137 runs at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). Moreover, they took an unassailable lead in the series with one match remaining at Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG), starting Thursday, January 3. The Indians are yet to win their maiden Test series on Australian soil and they would get a chance of rewriting history in the next encounter.
After India won the toss and elected to field first, they ticked most of the boxes. Cheteshwar Pujara’s 17th Test century back by half-centuries from Virat Kohli, Mayank Agarwal and Rohit Sharma lifted the visitors to 443 declared. Thereafter, India bowled their opponents out for a paltry 151 and garnered a humungous lead of 292 runs courtesy of speedster Jasprit Bumrah’s six-wicket haul.
India script another triumph
The 25-year-old from Ahmedabad used the short ball and variations to good effect that bamboozled the Australian batsmen. Right-arm fast bowler Pat Cummins came into his own and got a six-wicket haul. Nevertheless, India were able to set Tim Paine and Co a colossal target of 399. In the second innings, India were able to take eight wickets by the close of play on the fourth day.
Rain threatened to interrupt play on the last day and no play was possible in the pre-lunch session. Bumrah and Ishant Sharma picked up the last two wickets in 27 balls to help India win their 150th Test match. In the meantime, Hanuma Vihari, who slumped to a couple of failures at MCG, was happy for his team and expressed his delight on the social media. He took to Twitter, uploaded a picture of the Indian team and wrote, “What a win”
Here is Vihari’s reply
In the meantime, Danielle Wyatt, the English women’s batswoman, congratulated Vihari and the Indian team. She replied to Vihari’s post and wrote, “Great work boss”
