ENG vs AUS: David Warner backs Aaron Finch to smash second consecutive century
Finch had racked up his 11th ODI century in the previous ODI at Chester-le-Street.
The Australian team is currently at the Old Trafford in Manchester, playing their fifth and final match of the ODI series versus England. The Aussies have been shambolic throughout their campaign and have never been able to get their opponents on the mat. Tim Paine was assigned the role of captaincy prior to the series and he hasn’t had it easy thus far in the four matches.
He has drooped as a skipper and his own form with the willow has also been dismal, to say the least. Their bowlers have had a tough time as the English batsmen have pounced on them with sheer disdain. In the third ODI at Trent Bridge in Nottingham, Eoin Morgan and Co racked up a humungous score of 481, which also happened to be the highest ever team total in ODIs.
Finch gets back his form
Their batsmen have done a tad better though. Aaron Finch was touted to be a vital cog in the lineup. However, he couldn’t quite hit his straps in the first half of the series. He was shuffled in the batting order that never allowed him to settle. Finch came on to his own in the fourth ODI at the Chester-le-Street. The right-hander racked up his 11th century in the 50-over format.
He scored exactly 100 runs in the first innings to help his team over the 300-run mark. During his knock, the Victorian smacked 6 boundaries and 3 sixes and never allowed the Englishmen to dictate terms to him. Meanwhile, David Warner, the tainted cricketer, backed Finch to score back to back centuries and carry on with his rich vein of form while hoping for the Yellow Army to come out trumps.
He took to Twitter and wrote, “Good luck to the lads tonight. Keep backing yourselves. Back to back @AaronFinch5”
