David Warner's void in the SRH roster will be covered by the strong unit: Carlos Brathwaite
The Windies T20I skipper believes that the Sunrisers do indeed have the firepower to regain the trophy they had won in 2016.
All the Indian, as well as the overseas players who are part of the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), have already started with their hard-fought training sessions with their respective franchises in order to prepare well for the Twenty20 carnival.
However, two star overseas cricketers who have gained much recognition to their international standings through the IPL, David Warner, and Steve Smith are not allowed to take part in the eleventh edition due to their involvement in the ball-tampering scandal. Both the former Rajasthan Royals skipper and the former Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) captain have been slapped with a 12-month ban by Cricket Australia (CA) for playing against the spirit of the game during the third Test match against South Africa.
We have a strong unit to fill the absence of Warner: Carlos Brathwaite
Following the sanctions by the Australian board, the duo was subsequently barred from playing the IPL this year, which is why their respective franchises were forced to bring in the replacements for the two important and remarkable players in any format of the game.
The Sunrisers Hyderabad has roped in English batsman Alex Hales as their replacement for Warner. They appointed Kiwi batsman Kane Williamson as their new skipper of the season, largely due to the experience and success Williamson has gained captaining his national team in the recent years.
Windies T20 skipper Carlos Brathwaite who is part of the SRH roster this year spoke about the present state of the IPL franchise since the absence of Warner in the side in the upcoming season. The big-hitting all-rounder mentioned that they have a very strong and formidable unit this season which will be covering up nicely the absence of the former SRH skipper. He also noted that it is very important to perform well on the field on all match days to prove the quality of the side they possess this year.
“But, it is such a strong unit that his absence will be covered. It is a question of putting the quality available on paper right out there on the field,” said Carlos Brathwaite on SRH’s team this year in the absence of Warner as quoted by Sportstar.
