Fans missed a ‘Kul-Cha’ moment amid the drama during the IPL 2022 game between Delhi Capitals and Rajasthan Royals on Friday (April 22). It was the last over of the match and DC needed 36 to win. Rovman Powell ignited hopes in Delhi’s camp by smashing Obed McCoy’s first three deliveries for sixes. The third ball of the over was a high full-toss which wasn’t adjudged a no-ball.

Furious with the umpire’s decision, DC skipper Rishabh Pant tried to call Powell and Kuldeep Yadav, the two batters in the middle, back. Kuldeep was also evidently agitated with the umpire’s decision and he even seemed following his captain’s directives. However, the southpaw was hilariously intervened by his old friend and Rajasthan Royals leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal.

Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav at their candid best

Apparently, Chahal tried to settle things down by convincing Kuldeep to not follow Pant and stay on the field. He even gave a friendly push to the southpaw to end the drama. While this banter was overshadowed by the massive controversy, the clip of the incident later went viral. Meanwhile, Chahal’s efforts seemed fruitful as the game eventually resumed and RR walked away with a 15-run win.

Meanwhile, Pant’s actions didn’t go down well with the cricket fraternity as the southpaw faced massive criticism on social media. While the wicketkeeper-batter admitted his actions weren’t appropriate, the 24-year-old asserted that DC were undone by an umpiring howler.

“Everyone was frustrated (in the dugout) that it was not even close, everyone in the ground saw that, I think the third umpire should have interfered and said it was a no-ball. Obviously it wasn’t right (sending Amre onto the field) but what happened with us is also not right,” said Pant in the post-match presentation,” said Pant.

As far as the contest is concerned, RR posted the highest team score of the season, 222/2, while batting first at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Jos Buttler brought up his third ton of the season and took his side to a mammoth total. In reply, DC were in the hunt till the very end but were restricted to 207/8 in their allotted 20 overs, losing the contest by 15 runs.
