The coronavirus outbreak has created a situation of crisis across the globe. Most of the countries are going through lockdowns. There is absolutely no certainty when the situation will get better. With that, all sorts of sporting events have been cancelled throughout the world.
In such trying times, members of the cricketing fraternity are either resorting in Twitter or Instagram to provide fans with some entertainment. Deep Dasgupta also joined the trend as he was involved in an Instagram live with CricTracker.
Dasgupta answered a varied range of questions during the live session and also dished out his opinion about ‘Fab five’ Test players — batsmen as well as bowlers.
To start off his ‘Fab five’ batsmen list, Dasgupta chose Kohli and Smith. The current Indian skipper– Virat Kohli– has already established himself as one of the great of his game with his impeccable technique and impressive consistency. Similarly, Steve Smith has also evolved into a modern-day great. After returning to the game after his ball-tampering saga, the Australian has been delivering consistent performances with his willow.
Deep Dasgupta slots Nathan Lyon in his bowlers’ list
The next two names in Dasgupta’s list were of Kane Williamson and Joe Root. The Kiwi skipper has received many accolades for his on-field approach and leadership skills. Joe Root — despite being not in his best touch since a couple of months — has the potential of playing match-winning knocks for England.
To finish off his list, Dasgupta went with Babar Azam. The Pakistan stalwart has already established his name in the limited-overs format and is on his way to prove his mettle with the red ball too.
Coming on to Dasgupta’s ‘Fab five’ Test bowlers, he chose Pat Cummins and Jasprit Bumrah to start off his list. Both the speedsters are known for their laser-perfect accuracy and sheer pace. Dasgupta incorporated two other pacers– Kagiso Rabada and Mohammed Shami– in his ‘Fab five’ Test bowlers list. All the above-mentioned speedsters have wreaked havoc on the opposition with their lethal spells with the red ball.
To finish off his bowlers’ list, Dasgupta included Australia’s, Nathan Lyon. The off-spinner has cemented his place in the Aussie Test squad and in a Test career spanning over 96 matches, Lyon has scalped 390 wickets including 18 five-wicket hauls.
