IPL 2018: Deepak Hooda banking on good performances for India berth
Deepak Hooda is yet to make his debut for India
Deepak Hooda first came to limelight for the Rajasthan Royals a couple of seasons ago with his swashbuckling style of play. Thereafter, he played for the Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Meanwhile, he also dished out some impressive performances in the domestic circuit which brought him in contention for a spot in the national team.
He was drafted into the Indian team for the maiden time during Sri Lanka’s tour of India last year. Also, he was a part of the squad for the T20 triangular series which also involved Bangladesh. However, on neither occasion, he was able to break into the playing eleven. However, the Baroda cricketer is eyeing his stint with the Sunrisers as a platform for getting into the Indian team.
“Perform well in the IPL”- Deepak Hooda
“The preparation is going good and I am feeling well. To be honest, I have to perform well in the IPL and if I achieve that, India is there, and then my dream (of getting selected in the national team) will materialize. I want to play in all the formats. If you see practically, then the road to the Indian team would be easier if I perform well in the IPL,” he mentioned to the media.
Meanwhile, the cricketer expressed his disappointment of not getting selected despite being in the Indian squad. However, he sounded adamant about his dream of donning the national colours. “There is a little disappointed and that is natural. It is a different experience. I am getting better day by day, I will get a (chance) when my time comes” he added.
Hooda will be playing his third edition of the IPL with the Sunrisers Hyderabad and he talked about his familiarity with the team. “This is my third year (for the SRH) and there is nothing new (for me). I personally feel confident that the franchise has retained me. I know the situations and the ground, there is a definite advantage,” the Baroda cricketer remarked.
