Australia’s Glenn Maxwell, who is in the form of his life in domestic cricket, will be unavailable for the start of the eleventh edition of the cash-rich Indian Premier League (IPL). Maxwell isn’t the only Aussie who will miss the initial phase his teammate Aaron Finch who was signed up by the Kings XI Punjab will be unavailable as well.

Maxwell, who played for the Preity Zinta owned Kings XI Punjab, will now be seen playing for the Daredevils, after being bought by the franchise for a whopping Rs. 9 crore. Finch, on the other hand, was purchased by Maxwell’s former employer Kings XI Punjab for Rs 6.2 crore. Coincidently, the Daredevils play their first match of the season against the Kings XI, an encounter in which both the Aussies will be missed.

Maxwell will be the MC (Master of Ceremonies) for his close friend Aaron Finch’s wedding. Finch is due to tie the knot on April 7 with partner Amy Griffiths and thus they will both be late to join in their sides.

“I saw the fixture this morning – there’s no chance I’ll be missing my wedding,” Finch told reporters in Auckland on Thursday as per cricket.com.au. “That’d be a bit tough leaving Amy at the altar, wouldn’t it? The second game we play is on the 13th, that’ll give me plenty of time to get over there and miss only one game luckily.”

Steve Smith to tie the knot in September

Finch also cleared that apart from Maxwell, with whom he is known to share a close bond, he doesn’t expect any other high-profile Australian players to miss the start of the IPL. Later this year in September, Australian captain Steve Smith and his fiancé Dani Willis will also be tying the knot. The lovebirds had got engaged in April last year.

The upcoming edition of the IPL commences on April 7 with defending champions Mumbai Indians taking on rivals Chennai Super Kings in the opener at the Wankhede stadium in Mumbai. The second match is set to be played between Delhi Daredevils and Kings XI Punjab on April 8.
