Former India captain Gautam Gambhir has started his new innings as Bhartiya Janta Party MP from East Delhi on a good note by installing CCTV cameras to tackle the issue of women’s safety which has plagued Delhi. He is also known for his nationalist views with his support for Indian armed forces and also taking on Pakistani cricketers whenever they spew venom for India.

Recently, he had also taken a dig at the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government in Delhi for not being able to contain pollution in the state especially when the Bangladesh cricket team arrived in the country to play the first T20I of the three-match series at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.

The players were seen wearing masks and limiting their physical activities outdoors to fight pollution and Gambhir mentioned the inability of the Arvind Kejriwal government to do anything.

Gautam Gambhir criticized for doing commentary while missing an important meeting

This time, however, tables have seemingly turned on the cricketer-turned-politician in Delhi as a journalist has slammed Gambhir for missing an important meeting of Parliamentary Standing Committee of Urban Development specifically to discuss taking steps for curbing pollution in the state, an issue that Gambhir himself was using to target the incumbent government.

Gambhir is currently doing duties as a commentator in the ongoing Test series between India and Bangladesh and he’s currently in Indore for the first Test match being played at the Holkar stadium in the city. The journo shared a photo of him having snacks with VVS Laxman alongside a list of MPs supposed to attend the meeting for curbing pollution which has his name.

He tweeted it with the caption, “So, honorable MP of Delhi Gautam Gambhir has all the time to do commentary and enjoy in Indore but no time to attend the meeting of Parliamentary Standing Committee of Urban Development over severe air pollution in Delhi. Commentary pays, meetings don’t anyway!”

It remains to be seen what reply and explanation Gambhir comes up with for missing this important discussion on an issue that has been slowly asphyxiating the capital of India.
