Despite poor run in the IPL, Chris Gayle believes he is still the king
Of course I’m a king, claims Gayle.
Chris Gayle might have had a lacklustre tournament this season in the IPL for the Royal Challengers Bangalore, there is no two-way about the great self-appreciation he boasts. In a recent interview, Gayle claimed that he is still the king.
It was only a few weeks back that Gayle brought his ten-thousandth run in T20 cricket and tagged himself as the Universal Boss. Since then, the West Indian hasn’t been a regular in the side. Overall, Gayle featured in only 9 matches in the tournament and scored 200 runs with only one half-century.
One of the major reasons for RCB’s dismal performance was Gayle’s drought with the bat this season. Much was expected out of the 37-year-old as he only plays T20 in the twilight of his career. It is certain that Gayle would not feature in Big Bash League after his controversial stint two seasons back.
In order to promote his brand, Gayle took up three tweets from his fans and answered their queries. One of his fans tweeted by saying, “Christopher Henry Gayle, you beast you’re the king”, to which Gayle replied “Oh, I love that guy. That guy is a champion. You tweeted that? Of course I’m a king.”
The other tweet mentioned that a Gayle fan got beaten up after he stated that the Universal boss is better than Virat Kohli. To which Gayle replied by saying, “The guy who beat you up, I need to have a word with him, okay? Because no one beats my fans and gets away with it.”
He wrapped up the session by stating that he had fun while reading out the tweets of his fan,”It was great fun reading these tweets, I really enjoyed it. Hopefully you guys had fun as well. Keep sending your tweets out to me to make sure you get a chance to interact with Chris Gayle.”
