Dhoni bhai smiled and hugged me after the match: Deepak Chahar
The CSK skipper was miffed at Chahar for not executing the plans perfectly.
MS Dhoni doesn’t often lose his cool on the field while leading his side. But during the game against the Kings XI Punjab (KXIP), he was miffed with Deepak Chahar when the latter bowled two slower beamers in the penultimate over. The game was in the balance at that point in time, with the KXIP needing 39 off last two overs. Chahar was given the responsibility for the first time and he faltered in the first couple of deliveries itself.
Without a ball being counted, eight runs were scored by the opposition and this is where Dhoni ran into Chahar. He was seen talking to the bowler in an animated fashion even as the umpires warned him for bowling the beamers. Nevertheless, the youngster came back really well to concede only five more runs in the next deliveries which left 26 runs for Scott Kuggeleijn to defend as CSK won the match comfortably.
Being at the receiving end of MS Dhoni‘s ire earlier, Deepak Chahar was then hugged by the captain with a smile after the match. He had done a great job bowling for the first time at the death and apart from those two blips, had bowled an excellent over.
He said well done to me
Recalling the moment while speaking to Times of India, Deepak Chahar said, “Dhoni bhai was very angry with me. It was a big mistake that I made. He said a lot of things. Honestly, at the back of my mind, I was thinking ‘what to bowl next?'” Also the 26-year-old went on to inform that all his team-mates congratulated him after the match and most importantly, the skipper came with a smile and said, ‘Well done’ to him.
“After the match every player of my team came and congratulated me. They said I bowled brilliantly at the death’. Dhoni bhai also came up to me. He smiled and hugged me. He said ‘well done’. I know I bowled two bad deliveries, but I made an immediate comeback. He (Dhoni) also encouraged me and asked me to do well in the tournament. I was extremely happy that I contributed in my team’s victory.” Chahar further said.
