For several years now, Suresh Raina and the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) were considered inseparable elements. He has been the face of the franchise since 2008 along with MS Dhoni. Several of CSK’s success stories can be attributed to Raina for his immeasurable contributions to the ‘Men in Yellow’. Batting at number three, he was a strong pillar for the Super Kings and always gave his best.

However, ahead of IPL 2020, things have turned awry with Raina deciding to pull out of the tournament. He cited concerns over Covid-19 and a few family issues as the reason for the same. While CSK said that they respected his decision, they are clearly missing his presence on the field.

After returning to India, the left-hander raised expectations by stating that he could be back in the UAE during the tournament and the fans also hoped for the same. However, the CSK CEO, when asked about this recently, replied in the dissentient.

Something brewing up between Suresh Raina and CSK?

And as a part of one of the latest developments, Suresh Raina decided to unfollow Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on Twitter. Immediately after this happened, the topic went viral on social media. Some of the users also claimed that the 35-year-old unfollowed MS Dhoni, CSK’s captain and his beloved friend.  However, when CricTracker tried to verify the same, it was found out that Raina was still following Dhoni on the micro-blogging site.

Yet, Suresh Raina’s decision to unfollow the Super Kings has now raised several questions amongst the fans. Many hoped that he’d come back and play for the team next year. But some of these developments suggest otherwise, claimed the fans. Meanwhile, the Chennai Super Kings have found it tough without Raina in the top-order. The current set of batsmen haven’t been able to provide them with the kind of starts that they would hope for.

As a result, CSK lost the games against Rajasthan Royals and the Delhi Capitals after winning the first game against Mumbai Indians. In both these encounters, the team failed to chase down the targets. After the slow starts, the required run-rate kept climbing out of reach in these games.
