Die-hard CSK and MS Dhoni fan paints his house in yellow; spends Rs 1.5 lakh
"I want to motivate Dhoni and win or lose we will always support him," the fans Gopikrishnan said.
The IPL franchise Chennai Super Kings (CSK) enjoys a huge fan base spread across all over the globe. However, there is no match to the craze people have for MS Dhoni and Co. in Tamil Nadu. The franchise, especially the captain Dhoni is given a god-like status by the people there. He is known by the name Thala, meaning leader in the southernmost state of India.
There have been many instances when the fans have poured their love for the three-time champions Super Kings by going out of their ways and doing some unimaginary things. This time, die-hard fan Gopikrishnan, a resident of Cuddalore in Tamil Nadu spent a whopping INR 1.5 lakh to paint his house in the franchise’s yellow colour. To showcase his love for ‘Thala’, Gopikrishnan made the portraits of Dhoni on the front walls.
Being an ardent fan, Gopikrishnan attended all the matches of the Yellow Army that were held in his city over the years. However, this time due to the COVID-19 restrictions and protocols, the tournament was shifted to UAE and he missed watching his favourite cricketer play the match live from the stadium.
Explaining the reason for painting his house with Mahi’s pictures, Gopikrishnan revealed that as Chennai is not having a happy campaign this season, they are surrounded with negativity and trolls. Thus, to motivate MS Dhoni and to make him aware that his true fans will support him through the highs and lows, the Tamil Nadu citizen did this heartwarming gesture.
“I am disappointed that I can’t see Dhoni playing live, and also how many people are criticizing Dhoni for not playing well. I want to motivate him and win or lose we will always support him,” Gopikrishnan told India Today.
CSK is experiencing their worst IPL outing
The Super Kings started their campaign for the 2020 edition of the Indian Premier League without the presence of their star batsman Suresh Raina and veteran bowler Harbhajan Singh as both had pulled out their names from the tournament citing personal reasons. It is quite evident that the Yellow Army is missing Raina as their batting line-up looks vulnerable and they have not been able to perform well throughout.
This was the first time in the past 10 years that the team was standing at the 7th position in the points table at the half-way mark in the tournament. Out of the eight matches played, the team has been able to register victory in just three fixtures and needs to win almost all the matches from hereon to find a place in play-offs.
The fans are also eagerly waiting to see MS Dhoni play fearlessly on the field. Since the beginning of the tournament the wicketkeeper-batsman has been woefully out-of-form with scores of 0*, 29*, 15, 47*, 11, 10 and 21.
