Dinesh Karthik ecstatic after his inclusion in the World XI squad
The 32-year old was named KKR skipper for the 2018 season of the IPL.
India’s prolific middle-order batsmen and wicketkeeper – Dinesh Karthik, who rose to fame after his recent last ball-heroics in the Nidahas Trophy Final in Sri Lanka, has another feather in his cap. He has been nominated alongside Hardik Pandya as India’s representative at the clash between World XI and West Indies at the home of cricket on May 3.
The match is a charity game that raises funds for the stadia in the Caribbean, which was damaged due to the hurricane last year. The 32-year old, who has lately been in some blistering form in the opportunities that have come his way, was an obvious choice for such a cause.
KKR skipper confirms the story
Been in the midst of things for quite a long period now, Karthik is now an experienced campaigner in the shortest version of the game as he understands it with a better insight about the game. Karthik took to Social media via twitter as he relishes the opportunity to feature in a clash between the best in the World. The tweet read, “Honoured to be a part of this charity game”.
Here’s the tweet:
Captaining KKR successfully so far
Dinesh, who is currently leading Kolkata Knight Riders in the ongoing IPL, has been in some sublime form to present a stronger case for a spot in that uncertain Indian middle order. He has led the side well with some bold decisions on the field as a skipper. The underrated cricketer who has lived most of his career under the shadows of India’s former skipper MS Dhoni, has done enough to be selected in the side solely on the basis of his batting.
In his stint for KKR, the 32-year old has held the team together as they have punched above their weights to attain a spot in the top four in the points table. In the six matches played so far, Karthik has scored the bulk of the runs for his side at an average of 48.50 with a strike rate in excess of 130. The skipper has led the side from the front to see them acquire the 4th spot in the league table.
