The first Test between Pakistan and Australia ended in a draw as batters enjoyed a gala time in Rawalpindi. Only 14 wickets fell in five days of play where rain also played a part. Notably, the game held great significance as it marked Team Australia’s first assignment on Pakistan soil in this century. Hence, many fans from different quarters had their eyes on the match.
Meanwhile, Pakistan batted twice in the game and only lost four wickets. While they declared at 476/4 after electing to bat first, the hosts didn’t lose a single wicket in their second innings and ended the game at 252/0. From Imam-ul-Haq to Azhar Ali, many Pakistan batters impressed in the game. However, it was Fawad Alam, who entered the history books in the game.
Alam, who is designated to bat at number five, didn’t get to bat as the likes of Mohammad Rizwan and Iftikhar Ahmed were promoted ahead of him to score quick runs. While the 36-year-old has 15 international wickets to him, he wasn’t among the seven Pakistan bowlers either to roll their arm over in the game. Fawad didn’t get to do much in the fielding department as he neither took a catch nor effected a run-out.

Alam thus became the first Pakistani player in the last 28 years to have finished a Test match without batting, bowling, catching. As fans got to know about the southpaw’s unique feat, social media got flooded with jokes. While a section of fans felt for him for not getting a chance, others pulled Alam’s leg by calling his role a ‘dream job.’
Coming back to the game, Pakistan would be happier of the two sides four centuries were smashed from the home team. Besides this, left-arm spinner Nauman Ali took a six-wicket haul as well. Pakistan skipper Babar Azam seemed a pleased man after the game as he lauded his teammates.
“So many positives. Even I would want to congratulate my bowlers as this was a tough wicket. The way Nauman bowled was a massive positive for us. A few of our main bowlers were not available for this game as well but they should be available for the next game,” said the 27-year-old.
Meanwhile, let’s look at how Twitter reacted to Fawad Alam’s unique feat:

The only person gutted to not get a chance to bat on this pitch would be Fawad Alam. He could have scored another fifty or century in this one. He's the only player who didn't get to bat or bowl in this match. #PAKvAUS
