Ellyse Perry rushes to the boundary ropes after her shot injures a spectator
The other players of the Sydney Sixers also joined her at the ropes soon to inspect the situation.
The 2017-18 edition of the Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) is underway and the fans are thrilled to bits already. Some exciting matches has already taken place and the one between Sydney Sixers Women and Melbourne Stars Women was arguably the benchmark one till now. The player that managed to win the hearts of many during the game was star all-rounder Ellyse Perry.
Over the last couple of years, Australian speedster Ellyse Perry has been in the headlines for her exploits in the Australian team. Be it her batting or her bowling, the crowds absolutely love watching her. However, the reason she has managed to make the headlines this time around is because of the gentle and the caring nature she showed during the course of the WBBL game recently.
Sydney Sixers Women were going great guns in the match. They had posted a huge score on the board already and still had some deliveries left at their disposal in the first innings. They were inching towards breaching the highest ever T20 score as well. It was in the final over of the innings when Perry’s big heart was on display. Kristen Beams bowled the third delivery to Perry in the over.
It was a full delivery and Ellyse Perry needed no invitation to hoick it over the long on boundary. It was a good connection with the bat and the ball sailed over the ropes. However, it ended up hitting a spectator. Perry was quick to realize the same and was seen expressing her concern right away.
She then rushed to the boundary ropes, halting the play in progress. She moved to the fences to check if the spectator was fine. The other players of the Sydney Sixers also joined her at the ropes soon to inspect the situation. In the match, Sydney Sixers Women posted a mammoth 242/4 riding on Ashleigh Gardner’s 114 and Perry’s unbeaten 91 off 49 deliveries. In response, Melbourne Stars could only muster 156/7 in their stipulated 20 overs with Lizelle Lee top scoring with 64.
