Team South Africa are currently facing England A in a four-day practice game being played at the St Lawrence Ground in Canterbury. Meanwhile, England wicketkeeper-batter Sam Billings grabbed a sensational catch on the bowling of pacer Craig Overton to dismiss South Africa skipper Dean Elgar on day 1 of the match.
Meanwhile, South Africa has managed to score 282/6 after the end of Day 1, with Khaya Zondo and Kyle Verreynne still at the crease. Earlier, Rassie van der Dussen also played a good knock of 75 runs before he was cleaned up by pacer Ollie Robinson.
England Cricket posted the video of Elgar’s dismissal on their official Twitter handle
Talking about Elgar’s dismissal, pacer Craig Overton bowled a back-of-length delivery as the left-handed batter tried to play a shot on the front foot. But, the ball took the bat’s edge and went towards the gap between wicketkeeper Billings and the first slip. As the ball was about to touch the ground, Billings dived quickly to his left and snaffled the ball to complete an excellent catch.
The video of the catch was also posted by England Cricket as they captioned the post, “What a grab @sambillings.”

South Africa’s skipper got out after scoring 39 runs, but the visitors are looking good to post 350+ runs in their first innings. For England A, Overton has been impressive as he has already taken four wickets and will look to grab some more to end South Africa’s first innings with the bat.
After the practice game is done, the visitors will face the Three Lions in a three-match Test series starting on August 17. The first match of the series will be played at Lord’s London. To note, team England has been in impressive form in the longest format of the game of late. Previously, they have beaten New Zealand in a Test series and then defeated India in a rescheduled Test match to level the series. The home team will back themselves to win against South Africa as well.
