ENG vs IND: BCCI announces Jasprit Bumrah's replacement for T20I series
BCCI was quick to announce the replacement.
India is all set to take on the unstoppable England side in a full series starting from third of July. The tour will start with a three-match T20I series and then it shifts to a three-match ODI series and concludes with a five-match Test series. With the likes of Jason Roy, Jonny Bairstow, Alex Hales, Jos Buttler in form, England look strong on paper.
However, India has been hit by a fresh blow as their premium pacer and game changer Jasprit Bumrah got ruled out of T20I series with a fractured left thumb. He picked up injury during the first T20I against Ireland in Dublin. He wasn’t a part of the second T20I and consequently ruled out of England T20I series.
BCCI was quick to announce replacement in the form of Deepak Chahar, who was a part of the successful CSK side in IPL 2018. He is currently playing for India A in England and will join the Indian team once the final of the tri-series ends against England Lions. If Bumrah is deemed fit, he will be available for the ODI series against England starting from July 12.
Tough time ahead for Team India
While attempting a return catch in his last over of the first T20I against Ireland, Bumrah was present at India’s optional training session but he didn’t opt to train. According to ESPN cricinfo, he went to have scans during that time and was pulled out of second T20I, which India won by a huge margin of 143 runs.
Team India will dearly miss Jasprit Bumrah’s death bowling tricks as he is Virat Kohli’s go-to man in the powerplay and final overs in the T20 format. The pacer had four scalps in the five games he played in England during the Champions Trophy 2017 with an economy rate of 5 runs.
