Indian cricketer Dinesh Karthik has been seen doing the broadcasting duties ever since the finale of the World Test Championship. The batter has been receiving appreciation from the cricketing fraternity and the fans for his jovial and refreshing approach to the job. But now what has garnered the audacity is that the India cricket team’s coach Ravi Shastri too has encouraged Karthik.
Shastri who is considered to have graced the commentary box with his own distinct style gave a mark of approval to Dinesh Karthik for his stint with the mic. The entire incident came to the fore when Shastri heard commentator David Lloyd praising Karthik for his new job. Shastri was listening to the Sky commentary on his earpiece and reacted to it by making a thumbs-up gesture as a mark of approval.
This response from Shastri would definitely have been a moment to savor for Karthik who has just chimed into the broadcasting and commentary arena. He has looked happy and seems to be enjoying this new and challenging task. Replying to journalist Bharat Sundaresan’s tweet, Karthik agreed that this certainly is the ultimate vote of confidence for him. He wrote: “Most definitely Bharat ❤️🙂”

Earlier, Karthik shared a picture with Sky Sports’ commentary panel for the Test series between England and India. He put the picture on his Instagram story which featured some of the greats of the job. Michael Holding, Mike Atherton, Ian Ward, David Lloyd, and Mel Jones were some of them. Karthik also put a small caption wherein he wrote: “That’s the comm box at Sky for the first Test.”
This new task took up by the Kolkata Knight Riders’ batter has fascinated the fans. He was involved with the cricket on-lookers on a high note during the final of WTC as the fans were all looking forward to the weather updates of Southampton that he shared on his social media platforms. Karthik who was in the commentary box even during the England and Sri Lanka ODI series had asserted that he wanted to break the stereotype in India that only former cricketers can take up commentary duties.
