There have been a lot of speculations going over the quarantine period of England and Australian players who will be joining their respective IPL squads ahead of the mega league. The two nations will set foot for UAE after finishing their ODI series that’s taking place on English soil. Amid this, KKR CEO Venky Mysore has stated that players from England and Australia coming up for IPL will be there for the selection for the franchise’s first game.

As per Mysore, players of both nations will not have to undergo mandatory quarantine of six days as they are switching from one bio-secure bubble to another. This means those who will touch Dubai will be up for their teams from day one as the city has no mandatory quarantine period unless the person tests positive for coronavirus.

As per the local rules of Abu Dhabi, six-day quarantine is mandatory for players after traveling from outside, but even then, they will be available for the first match of KKR that is set for September 23. The KKR franchise is based in Abu Dhabi, and players will be flown on September 17 on a chartered plane, a day after the England-Australia series is wrapped up.

It’s worked out well, and it’s good for the tournament: Venky Mysore

“While they are still negotiating with the authorities, we are reconciled to the fact that we may have to quarantine our three players,” said Mysore as quoted by ESPNcricinfo. “They arrive on September 17, but our first game is on September 23, by which time they would’ve finished their [concessional six-day] quarantine. So it’s worked out well, and it’s good for the tournament.”

Kolkata has three players who are busy in England-Australia limited-over-series. England skipper Eoin Morgan, batsman Tom Banton and Australian pacer Pat Cummins. Two of them are really significant out of these as the English skipper is being considered by the franchise to play some match-winning knocks while Cummins’ show will be a thing to watch out for. He stands to be the most expensive foreign buy of the season.

KKR and MI are two franchises based in Abu Dhabi, and the latter has no players coming from the England-Australia series. Other teams are based in Dubai.
