Ahead of their first practice match on January 10th, England has hit the nets in the Brabourne Stadium with only Joe Root missing out on the grand scheme of things. Following their terrible 4-0 loss in the Test series, England will be looking for a turnaround in the upcoming ODI and T20I series.

The Brits will play their first practice match against an Indian side that will be led by former Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni. In addition, the second practice match will be captained by vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane who has been missing from the last three Test matches via injury,

A source close to the England team went on to add that Joe Root would join up with the England squad on the 12th of June ahead of their first ODI against India in Pune. This means that Root is expected to miss the practice games as well.

“Root is set to join the team on Thursday and travel with the team to Pune (venue of the first of three ODIs on January 15). He would certainly like to play that game if selected,” said a visiting team source after the practice session.

Nine of the players who were a part of the Test squad will return to play for the English ODI side captained by Eoin Morgan.

The three ODI matches are to be held in Pune, Cuttack (January 19) and Kolkata (January 22). These would be followed by the three T20I matches the visitors would play against hosts India, in Kanpur (January 26), Nagpur (January 29) and Bengaluru (February 1).
