England v Pakistan 1st Test, Day 1 - Statistical Highlights
The first day of England vs Pakistan Test series was all about Pakistan skipper Misbah-ul-Haq as the 42-year-old scored an unbeaten century and set a few oldest player records in the longest format of the game. Misbah remained not out at the end of day 1 scoring 110 with 18 fours in 178 balls. He shared a fifty-run stand with Younis Khan and century stand with Asad Shafiq as Pakistan will resume day 2 on 282/6. Here we look at all the stats and records recorded during the Day’s play.
1 – Misbah-ul-Haq became the first 42-plus aged player to feature in a Test match in last 20 years. The last player was England’s John Emburey v West Indies at Manchester in 1995.
1 – Younis Khan and Misbah-ul-Haq pair is the first 38 years plus pair after Rahul Dravid and Sachin Tendulkar (at Adelaide vs AUS in 2012) to bat together in Tests.

1 – Misbah is the first Pakistan player to score a century at Lord’s in his first innings. Asif Iqbal’s 76 in 1967 was the highest score for a Pakistan player before this game.
3 – Misbah became only the third Pakistan captain to score a century in his maiden Test innings in England. Hanif Mohammad and Javed Miandad were the others. However, Hanif and Javed played a few innings in England before playing first time as captain.
7 – Number of century stands Misbah and Asad Shafiq have between them for the fifth wicket in Test cricket, the most by any pair. Ricky Ponting and Steve Waugh had 6-century stands between them for the fifth wicket in Tests.
8 – Number of centuries, Misbah has scored in Tests as captain, the most for a Pakistan player, Inzamam-ul-Haq scored 7 centuries as captain in this format.

42y 47d – Misbah is now the oldest captain to score a century in Test cricket. Bob Simpson held the record previous as he scored a century at 41 years and 359 days for Australia vs India in 1978.
80 – Combine age of Misbah and Younis pair. They are the oldest pair to bat together in a Test since J Traicos (45) and M Jarvis (36) for Zimbabwe v New Zealand in 1992.
1934 – Misbah is now the first player to score a century in Test cricket at the age of 42 or more since 1934. The last player to score a century at the age of 42 ore more was Patsy Hendren for England vs Australia at Manchester in July, 1934.
