Rohit Sharma took to Instagram to thank Abhishek Nayar after his match-defining unbeaten knock of 76 off 45 deliveries against Chennai Super Kings at the Wankhede Stadium on Sunday, April 20. The former Mumbai Indians skipper was going through a lean run ahead of the fixture against CSK. However, he regained his mojo in MI's nine-wicket win.

Nayar, who was only recently sacked as India's assistant coach, understandably helped Rohit improve his batting technique. Notably, the duo were spotted at the Mumbai Cricket Association's BKC facility recently.

Not been happening consistently but I'm not going to doubt myself: Rohit Sharma

After the CSK game, Rohit elaborated on his thought process and the manner in which he wanted to apply himself at the crease while batting against MI's arch-rivals.

"Wankhede wants to enjoy good cricket. After being here for a long time, it's easy to start doubting yourself and start doing different things," Rohit told broadcasters after his team's victory.

"It was important for me to practice well, hit the ball well. It has been a while but if you doubt yourself, you put pressure on yourself. It is important to balance how you want to play. Today, I wanted to hit the ball but was also important to hold the shape and extend the arms. And then, if the ball is in the arc, I wanted to try what I always do. It has not been happening consistently but I am not going to doubt myself,” he added.

MI are scheduled to take on SRH at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on Wednesday, April 23. Rohit, who secured his 20th Player of the Match award in the IPL after his outing against CSK, would be aiming to contribute similarly in what promises to be a high-octane encounter against the Pat Cummins-led side.
