Pakistan perhaps gave their country the best special on their independence day with a win over England on the final day of the final Test at The Oval. While most of the players made an impact in the match, it was the brilliance of a few individuals which ensured that the victory was claimed and an eventual 2-2 draw in the series was reached. That said, here are the player ratings for the Pakistan players in the final Test at The Oval.

Sami Aslam – 4.5/10

Following an impressive match at Edgbaston, Aslam had an indifferent outing at The Oval as he could muster only a few runs in each innings.

Azhar Ali – 6/10

Azhar Ali set the foundations for the visitors in the first innings with a well-made 49. He also sealed the win with a massive six into the stands.

Asad Shafiq – 8/10

Perhaps Pakistan’s hero in the first innings was Asad Shafiq. His century spared the Pakistanis of their blushes as well as a collapse in the first innings.

Younis Khan – 9/10

The 38-year old was adjudged the man of the match, and with good reason. He went about smashing a rare double century as he made the England bowlers toil for their wickets. He accounted for almost 40% of Pakistan’s runs in the match.

Misbah-ul-Haq – 5.5/10

The Pakistan skipper was subdued with the bat. However, his decisions on the field and his calm brand of captaincy paid off with a win.

Iftikhar Ahmed – 5/10

The left-arm all-rounder did not make much of an impact on debut, and he didn’t have to as well as his teammates were doing the hard yards.

Sarfraz Ahmed – 6.5/10

The wicketkeeper-batsman made some quick runs with the bat for Pakistan and ensured that Younis Khan was given enough support at the other end. Other than that, his glove work was terrific as always.

Wahab Riaz – 8.5/10

Easily the stand out performer of the match for Pakistan. Wahab made headlines with some old fashioned bowling as his terrifying pace that quite literally won Pakistan the match.

Sohail Khan – 6/10

Having made an impact in the last match, Sohail kept his place on the side. He made an impact with the ball, ensuring that England was bowled out twice in the match.

Mohammad Amir – 6/10

The southpaw put up a strong performance in the series that has been billed as his return to Test match cricket. Moreover, the fact that he has made an impact with the red ball, he will be supremely important for Pakistan in the years to come.

Yasir Shah – 8/10

Yasir Shah made an important contribution with the ball after seemingly falling off the pace in the previous two Tests. He took five wickets in the second innings as the visitors successfully bowled out England.
