England vs India: Indian star player deemed fit for the third Test
But, India's batting problems continue.
Team India was confident going into the Test series against England. Even the head coach of the team, Ravi Shastri sounded positive and termed Indian side as the best travelling team in the world. He also stated that the team will take the England Test tour as another home series.
But, things didn’t pan out as per plan for the Virat Kohli-led side as they started the Test tour with a 31-run defeat at Edgbaston, Birmingham. The visitors looked like chasing down the target in the first Test but were largely dependent on their skipper Virat Kohli, who got out after adding 200 runs in the whole game. After his dismissal, the whole side collapsed to start the tour with a defeat.
The side entered the second Test with two interesting changes in Kuldeep Yadav and Cheteshwar Pujara for Umesh Yadav and Shikhar Dhawan. But, that didn’t help the Indian team as they faced an embarrassment drubbing at the Home of Cricket by an innings and 159 runs. This time Kohli managed to add only 40 runs and other batsmen couldn’t add many runs and India conceded 2-0 lead to hosts.
Game changer comes back!
However, things may change for the visiting team as they are set to take the field in the third Test at Trent Bridge with the pacer Jasprit Bumrah, who is deemed fit after he injured his left thumb during the Ireland series in June 2018. The pacer missed the England limited-overs series and was expected to be fit for Test series but missed the first two Tests because of the same injury.
With Bumrah’s comeback, Team India looks to be a dangerous bowling side in English conditions but their problems with the batsmen continue. The batters never showed intent in both the concluded Tests and the same resulted in India losing first two Tests at Edgbaston and Lord’s.
