England vs India Weather Forecast for Day 3, 2nd Test: London Weather on August 14

The ongoing second Test between England and India is perfectly poised at the end of Day 2. In reply to India’s first innings score of 364 runs, the Three Lions put up a substantial effort and finished the second day at 119/3. They are still trailing by 245 runs and the match can go anyway from here. While England would like to get close to India’s total, the visitors would want to take the remaining seven wickets quickly.

Earlier in the game, Joe Root won the toss and elected to bowl first at the iconic Lord’s Cricket Stadium. However, the decision didn’t seem to be spot on with Indian openers Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul tackling the new red cherry with utmost precision. While the duo played the challenging deliveries on merit, they didn’t mind dispatching the loose ones for boundaries.

While Rohit got dismissed for 83, Rahul advanced to his sixth Test ton. At 276/3, India were cruising towards a mammoth total. However, James Anderson’s sensational spell dented their plans. The 39-year-old pacer spitted venom with the red cherry and scalped a five-wicket haul. As a result, India got bundled out for 364 despite a stellar start.

In response, England got off to a steady start with openers Rory Burns and Dominic Sibley being watchful against the new ball. However, Mohammed Siraj turned the tides around by dismissing Sibley and comeback man Haseeb Hameed in consecutive deliveries. Nevertheless, skipper Joe Root came out at number four and he rebuilt England innings alongside Rory Burns.

The duo added 85 runs for the third wicket before Mohammed Shami dismissed Burns on the brink of stumps on the second day. Root was then joined by Jonny Bairstow and the duo made sure England don’t lose any more wickets in the day. Hence, Day 3 has a lot in prospect and it would be interesting to see how it pans out.
