England Women to host India for 3 ODIs and 3 T20Is in September 2022
South Africa will also tour England and mark their return to Test cricket after 8 years.
England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has announced the schedule of the Women’s team for the home summer later this year. The team led by Heather Knight will face South Africa and India on either side of the second edition of the The Hundred and Commonwealth Games. While the Proteas Women will be traveling to the UK in June-July, India will be facing England in September after Commonwealth Games set to take place in Birmingham.
South Africa will also mark a return to Test cricket on this tour with the one-off game set to take place from June 27 to June 30 in Taunton. England and South Africa will also play three ODIs and as many T20 Internationals later with the tour concluding on July 25.
As far as team India is concerned, they will play three ODIs and three T20Is against England starting September 10. The highly anticipated tour will end with the last One-Day International at the home of cricket, Lord’s.
Busy summer for England Women
ECB’s Managing Director for Women’s Cricket, Clare Connor, was delighted to announce a competitive summer schedule for England. She is also excited that The Hundred and Commonwealth Games are set to be played during the summer which gives the players a chance to shine at the biggest of stages.
“We are thrilled to be able to announce a compelling summer of international women’s cricket against two of the best teams in the world, in what is a bumper year for the women’s game. In particular, we are excited to be taking England Women back to Lord’s and up to the Riverside Ground as we continue to take the game to as many fans as possible.
“With the second edition of the Hundred and the historic opportunity to participate in the Commonwealth Games on home soil, we’re looking forward to seeing our players thrive on the biggest stages.
“Despite the challenges presented by the pandemic, we keep seeing growth in our female participation numbers and I’m optimistic that a summer as action-packed as this, with more days broadcast than ever before, will continue to inspire more women and girls to play and watch the game,” Connor said according to ESPNCricinfo.
