English cricket culture must change following Ben Stokes' incidence: Michael Vaughan

Former England captain Michael Vaughan lambasted at the cricket board for not able to confine players late at night and appealed stricter laws have to be imposed on the players in order to change the English culture. Vaughan insisted that the administration should learn from the Ben Stokes’ incidence and adopt new measures such that similar incidences do not occur in the future.

Star all-rounder Stokes and Alex Hales were arrested after a late-night brawl which led to an assault severely injuring a former army personnel who served in Afghanistan. Following the incident, both Hales and Stokes have been suspended indefinitely as police continue to interrogate the two Bad Boys of English Cricket.

The culture of cricket has to change quickly: Vaughan

“Yes, he’s 26 years of age, he should be more mature, he has made a massive mistake and I have no sympathy for Ben Stokes whatsoever,” revealed former England captain Michael Vaughan according to Daily Mail. This is not the first time that Ben Stokes has been involved in disciplinary issues due to late-night drinking.

Back in 2013, Stokes was sent home from a Lions Tour. It was also reported that he was out partying during a Test match at Old Trafford this summer. “But the management of the England team has to look at themselves in the mirror and say, “Hang on a minute, could we have done a bit more, could we have been a bit stricter?” questioned Vaughan.

“I am not saying I want a headmaster and have a curfew and say. ‘You have got to be in your room by 11 pm and you can never drink’, but there is a time and a place and I just think now, with what has gone on this week, the culture of cricket has to change quickly,” Vaughan further explained his statement.
