Eoin Morgan: We Can Beat the Best in the world in any game of Cricket: The English Cricket team has been shaping to good effect after their tormenting exit from the World Cup, 2015 from the group stages of the tournament. The captain for the limited overs of the England team, Eoin Morgan said that their side does possess the capability to beat even the best teams of the world and that too quite comprehensively.
In the World Cup, New Zealand had thrashed England by 8 wickets and in the ODI series of late, England empowered over the kiwis with a thrilled 3-2 victory and that was followed by a T20I victory by 56 runs against the kiwis to end their tour to England on a losing note.
Morgan said, “This felt a million miles away after the World Cup.” England had performed rather poorly in the World Cup stages and they failed to beat a single test playing nation in the World Cup stages. But their performances of late reflected confidence among the players and Morgan is naturally a relieved man now.
The English captain also added, “This is a fantastic way to finish what has been a great month of cricket. When you’re trying to implement change within a group it’s important to have successes along the way and these guys have had that. “We’ve done it the way we said we would and that’s important too. I want these guys to play with as much freedom as possible.”
Root was the architect for the 56-run victory in the sole T20. Root managed to score a total of 68 runs in real quick time that sealed the game in favour of the England team. Despite getting a solid start to the innings, courtesy of Brendon McCullum, the kiwis failed to capitalize and the brilliant half century from Williamson had gone in vain.
The English team at last revived some confidences in world cricket after their glamorous performances of late. And they now look forward to the Ashes.
The skipper of the limited overs format, not present in the Test squad, Eoin Morgan, said, “Now we have won this game and the ODI series it reinforces to the guys that, it might not always come off, but we can beat the best in the world in any game of cricket.”
