Eoin Morgan wins Rashid Khan’s heart by playing cricket with an Afghan family
For his kind gesture, Morgan received a lot of praise.
The England team completed a fairytale by winning their first ODI championship at the home of cricket, Lords. It was a memorable eve of the England cricket with their stars fulfilling the dreams of millions of English cricket fans. Putting aside his bad boy image, the all-rounder Ben Stokes became a national hero by guiding the team to a historic win.
Along with him, the Brits were showering praises on their adopted son, Eoin Morgan who has been the pioneer of England’s white-ball achievements. The Irish-born cricketer has now a page to himself in the history books of cricket. Morgan started his captaincy journey four years ago and immediately he received a jolt when the England team were ousted in the group stages of the 2015 World Cup.
Since then he has injected a new vigor in this side and now they have become one of the famous white-ball teams. He is a character who looks composed in the pressure situations and also accepts victory and defeat in the same spirit. In simple terms, Morgan is quite a humble personality which was clear from his recent twitter post.
Grounded champion
Apart from leading the side to glory, the southpaw had a remarkable campaign by striking one of the best centuries of the World Cup. He accumulated 371 runs in 11 games including his career-best score of 148 where he hit a record-breaking 17 sixes. Still, after playing the most exciting World Cup final, he was seen hugging his counterparts and even congratulated New Zealand for playing top-class cricket. His humility was again on the show when he shared some of the beautiful cricketing moments with an Afghan family.
According to his Twitter post, Morgan was enjoying the English summer with some backyard cricket. On his way home after dinner, a ‘lovely’ Afghan family asked him to play with them and he obliged immediately. It was a heartfelt moment from the World Cup-winning captain. He also mentioned how sports combines a different set of people.
