Everest Premier League 2021: Shahid Afridi to play for Kathmandu Kings XI in the tournament

Everest Premier League (EPL), the six-team competition, is all set to kick start from September 25. It was previously scheduled to be played in the months of March-April last year but owing to the ongoing pandemic it was postponed. The tournament is up there grabbing eyeballs with some key players set to feature in it. Former Pakistan captain, Shahid Afridi is the latest big name that is set to be associated with the tournament.

Nepal’s biggest Twenty20 franchise cricket tournament will see Shahid Afridi featuring for the Kathmandu Kings XI in the EPL 2021. Afridi is a key name that is all set to play in the league after having had a splendid international career. The veteran has played 27 Tests, 398 ODIs, and 99 T20Is for Pakistan and is considered one of the best in the business.

Kathmandu Kings XI is amongst the six teams that are a part of the EPL. On Monday, the team announced the key signing of the Pakistan legend. Afridi has a lot of experience under his sleeves from both, the domestic and the international arena.

He has played in varied tournaments all over the world, right from the Indian Premier League, Pakistan Super League, Big Bash League, Caribbean Premier League, and Bangladesh Premier League, to name a few.

Apart from Shahid Afridi, the EPL also has attracted other key players

With the likes of Mr.360 AB de Villiers and the T20 batting maestro Chris Gayle, the EPL had previously roped in some big names in the tournament. Even South Africa’s Hashim Amla was associated with the league. Now with the second leg of the IPL resuming in around the same window, the availability of these players has not been confirmed yet.
