Virat Kohli relinquished RCB captaincy after the end of the 2021 season having led the franchise for nine seasons starting in 2013. Under his captaincy, Bangalore finished as the runners-up in the 2016 season and also made the playoffs in the 2015, 2020, and 2021 editions respectively.

Kohli is playing in the ongoing IPL 2022 as a pure batter and a senior player but lately, the batting megastar has gone on to say that the current skipper Faf du Plessis has given him the liberty to make field adjustments whenever he feels so. Giving further clarification on the same, Virat has added that RCB has a leadership group where they all share their inputs.

To be honest, it’s different: Virat Kohli on Faf du Plessis’ leadership

“To be honest, it’s different. I won’t say it’s hard because it’s something that you’re involved in regularly. So, the good thing is that my relationship with Faf has always been good. We also have a leadership group in the team where we all share our inputs,” said Kohli on ‘INSIDE RCB’ show on Star Sports.

“Even on the field, when Faf is on the outfield and I am inside, I make sure to look after the fielding angles and the placement, so he’s given me the liberty to adjust wherever I feel that there’s a need, but always keeping him in the loop obviously. So, it’s been a different way to look at the game, but because I’ve done it so much in the past, it’s not something that I don’t know how to do,” he added.

Virat Kohli has not had a great season according to his standards having managed 236 runs from 13 matches including just a solitary half-century and a couple of 40+ scores. He would be hoping to prove a point with an impactful knock in the Royal Challengers Bangalore’s final group game against the table-toppers Gujarat Titans at the Wankhede Stadium on May 19. This is a must-win match for RCB in order to prolong their tournament hopes.
