5. Tiger – Shoaib Al Bokhari
Team Supporting: Bangladesh
A motor mechanic by profession, Shoaib Al Bokhari, gained fame and his name ‘Tiger’ when he would paint his body like a tiger and attend Bangladesh’s matches at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium, Mirpur some nine years ago. A son of an Imam Masjid, Shoaib’s journey was never easy. Shouting and cheering for a country which usually ends on a losing side, this boy slowly and gradually became the essential figure of Bangladesh Cricket. He claims that he has never missed a Bangladesh match in Bangladesh since the year he first entered the stadium painted as a tiger. He has travelled to Zimbabwe, India and Sri Lanka in support of his team. His profession doesn’t gives him enough savings to travel around much but he has been supported by current and ex Bangladeshi cricketers from time to time.
His passion can be well understood by the fact that once he entered India to cheer his team in the ICC Champions Trophy 2006 by a way which didn’t involved passports and airplane tickets but barbed wires, muddy fields, a sneak peek with the police and months long refuge to collect enough money to travel back home.
