The Indian skipper Virat Kohli has made run scoring look so very easy. In fact, many fans believe that watching him play in every single game has become a habit now. Virat notched up his 35th ODI ton in the sixth and the final ODI against South Africa in the bilateral assignment. Kohli has certainly made it a habit to score hundreds at will. This swashbuckling ton is his third ton in this particular series.
With every century that Virat Kohli scores, the record books sees itself update. En route his 35th ODI ton, Kohli managed to break a few more records. He now has the highest aggregate by an Indian batsman in a bilateral assignment. Furthermore, Virat Kohli is only 15 centuries short of the milestone number of 50 ODI centuries. No wonder why many players and cricket pundits have already started to tip him as the best ODI cricket ever.
Commenting on this particular innings, Virat arrived at the crease early on in the innings with Rohit Sharma perishing cheaply in the run chase. Team India had a target of 204 to overhaul in the match. Many wondered if the total number of runs were enough for the chase master to reach his 35th ton. Kohli certainly managed to prove that the runs were enough and he reached the number with ease to help India seal out another comprehensive win.
Interestingly, Virat Kohli has made a name for himself in the limited overs cricket as the chase master. He looks absolutely calm and composed in the run chases. The way he paces his innings and also takes control of the game is truly a delight for any cricket fan to witness. Kohli thrives in pressure situations and that is what sets him apart from the others in the league.
It is worth noting that all the three tons of Virat in this particular series have been contrasting ones. His first ton in the first ODI was a patient one but he later accelerated as the game progressed. In the third ODI, he played a very sensible knock of an unbeaten 160. And this particular ton came at a brisk pace.
Here is how the fans reacted to Virat Kohli’s ton:
