There’s no doubt in the fact the Imran Khan, who is currently the Honourable Prime Minister of Pakistan, has been one of greatest cricketers ever produced by the country. He made his international debut with the Test versus Pakistan in Birmingham in 1971 and thereafter, he didn’t look back by any means. The all-rounder kept on piling one record after the other in his illustrious career.
Three years after his Test debut, Punjab-born player forayed into ODI cricket as well. He didn’t flatter to deceive even in limited-overs cricket and it wasn’t much of a surprise bearing in mind the talent he possesses. The ending to his career for the Pakistan team was like a fairytale as well. Imran was the skipper when the Men in Green won the 1992 edition of the World Cup.
In the final against England, Khan scored 72 runs off 110 balls with five fours and one over-boundary. With the leather, he was a bit expensive, having conceded 43 runs in 6.2 overs. But he picked up the wicket of number 11 Richard Illingworth and took his team to glory. In his ODI career, Khan went on to notch 3,709 runs at an average of 33.41 with a top score of an unbeaten 102 against Sri Lanka.
He also accounted for 182 ODI wickets with best figures of 6/14. In his Test career, Imran finished with 3807 and 362 wickets. Seven international centuries to go with 37 half-centuries, he was no mug with the bat in hand. After his cricketing journey, Imran devoted his time to politics. Last year, his party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf won the General Elections and Khan became the PM.
The horrendous error
In the meantime, Naeem ul Haq, Imran Khan’s assistant, went down the memory lane and remembered of the cricketer’s moments back in 1969. At that time, Imran didn’t even get the taste of international cricket and was a rookie. However, the assistant made a serious goof-up while recollecting the moments.
He mistakenly uploaded Sachin Tendulkar’s childhood picture in place of Imran. The netizens thereafter trolled him for the error. The picture has already garnered a significant 13.1 thousand likes on Twitter.
