Hong Kong Islanders will be up against Kowloon Lions in the 1st match of the Hong Kong All Stars T20 at the Mission Road Ground in Mong Kok on October 13. This will be the first match for both these teams in the tournament, but if the recent form is under the scanner, then Kowloon Lions has been the heavier side on the scale.

Both these teams had squared off against each other in their last encounter, which was held last year at the same venue where Kowloon Lions won the toss and elected to field. The match was affected by rain even before a ball could be bowled, and so it was reduced to 15 overs a side.

The Islanders did not start well, losing their first wicket just at the score of two runs. They kept losing wickets one after the other without being able to form any significant partnerships. Their lower order scored some runs to make them reach a respectable total of 70 runs. The Lions did not start too differently with their chase as well. However, the total was not too big to be worried about as the pair of Waqas Barkat Zeeshan Ali stood their ground and made an unbeaten match-winning partnership. Kowloon Lions won the match by seven wickets with around 22 balls to spare.
