Sri Lanka (SL) will be hosting Ireland (IRE) in the first Test match at Galle International Stadium starting on April 16. Sri Lanka lost against New Zealand 2-0 in their last Test series, ending their hopes for the Worst Test Championship 2023 Final. This is the first time Ireland are playing a Test against Sri Lanka and will be playing more than one match in the Test series. Legspinner Dushan Hemantha is included in the team for the first time and might make his debut at Galle's spin-friendly pitch. Ireland faced Bangladesh in a one-off Test earlier this month, where they suffered a seven-wicket defeat. Lorcan Tucker scored a century in the second innings while Harry Tector and Andy McBrine scored the fifties, but the bowlers struggled in the second innings as Bangladesh easily chased the 138-run target.
