The left-handed opening batsman’s big positive is his strength. He is a big unit, he cleared the boundaries with ease. Someone used to joke, boxing ring suited more to Hayden than a cricket field. He is fourth in the list of fastest Aussies to ten hundreds in test cricket. Format was not a cause of concern for Hayden, any format he played all the same. Mathew Hayden is less of technical brilliance and more of physical brilliance. He was a superior presence on the field intimidating most of the modern-day fast bowlers. He is a former Australian batsman and also was the vice captain of the Australian cricket team till he retired in 1957. Neil Harvey is often widely regarded as Australia’s favourite cricketers after Bradman. Harvey was known for his stroke play. He enthralled the spectator’s with his scintillating stroke play. He had all the requisite capabilities a test opener should have. Harvey was known for his temperament right from his teenage and almost played all the shots in the batting manual. Much lesser known to the modern-day cricket fans, yet he is an epitome of class and elegance. Morris was a left-handed batsman who lost his prime days of his career due to war, like Bradman. During those days only Bradman boasted of a much better average than him. He could only play 46 tests, of which he scored 12 hundreds. He is right on top of the list to have achieved the feat in just 23 innings. It was predictable though, for a batsman who has a whopping batting average of 99.94. Players like Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid also did score some big ones but nobody till date has been able to match up with the Don. He was sure of his capabilities and used them with full effect for Australia. He was always at ease facing the bowlers. The batsmen of his days never wore a helmet, that furthermore is his credential.
