Batsmen fastest to 6000 runs in T20s

The shortest format of the game, the Twenty20s, is regarded as the batter friendly format. But it has to be taken into consideration that batting in T20s comes with a lot of risks. It is never easy to score heavy runs in this format. India’s Virat Kohli recently joined the elite list of players who have scored 6000 or more runs in T20s. The big hitting Trinidadian is a globe-trotter when it comes to T20s. He has represented various top sides, which includes Adelaide Strikers and South Australia in Big Bash and the Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League. He shot to limelight with his exploits for the Trinidad and Tobago during the inaugural Champions League T20. He completed 6000 runs during his match-winning knock of 85* against the Rising Pune Supergiants at Pune in IPL 9. It was his 229th T20 match and 219th inning with the bat. He has an IPL century to his name as well which he scored way back in 2012. 6. Raina is leading the Gujarat Lions side. The effort came in his 217th innings. Prior to this, Raina had his loyalties with the Chennai Superkings for 8 years. He has 3 tons to his name in the format so far, one of which came in the IPL. He scored his maiden IPL century against the Kings XI Punjab in 2013. He is best remembered for his knock of 87 runs in just 25 balls against Kings XI Punjab in 2014. 5. Brendon McCullum – 207 Innings: Brendon McCullum. It was during the match against Delhi Daredevils at Raipur when he reached the milestone and scored 49 in that game. It was his last game of the season. McCullum has played for four IPL teams – Gujarat Lions, CSK, Kochi Tuskers Kerala and Kolkata Knight Riders. Back home, he is renowned for his performances for Otago Volts. The Victorian batsman brought up his 6000th run in his 206th inning when he played for Rajasthan Royals in the 2014 edition of the IPL. He scored 40 against the Mumbai Indians, en route which he crossed the landmark. At that time, he had become only the second batsman in the history of the game to cross 6000 runs in T20s. During his second ton of the IPL 9, against the Rising Pune Supergiants, Kohli went past the 6000 run mark. He scored an unbeaten 108 in the match to guide his team Royal Challengers Bangalore to a comfortable win. Kohli has been playing for the same IPL side since the first season. 1. He has hit the most number of sixes in this format. Playing against the Kings XI Punjab in the 2014 edition of the IPL, Gayle hit Glenn Maxwell for a boundary to become the first batsman to score 6000 runs in T20 cricket.
