Former Indian pacer Venkatesh Prasad had also joined Kapil Dev and Ajay Jadeja in criticising Virat after the player’s poor show against England. Venkatesh has always been supportive with his words for Kohli in the past but criticised the player without taking his name. Venkatesh stated that many former stars were dropped for poor form in the past and suggested that the star players need to go back to domestic cricket and perform.

“There was a time when you were out of form, you would be dropped irrespective of reputation. Sourav, Sehwag, Yuvraj, Zaheer, and Bhajji all have been dropped when not in form. They have went back to domestic cricket, scored runs, and staged a comeback,” Venkatesh Prasad wrote in a tweet. He also suggested that the management needs to take a tough decision regarding Virat Kohli, for the greater good of the team.

“The yardsticks seem to have changed drastically now, where there is rest for being out of form. This is no way to progress. There is so much talent in the country and cannot play on reputation. One of India’s greatest match-winner, Anil Kumble sat out on so many occasions, need action for the larger good,” he added.
