Former Indian player Sunil Joshi credits IPL for Chahal - Kuldeep's success

The duo of Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav have created an enigma for India. Both the wrist spinners have not only created havoc in the opposition’s batting ranks but completely decimated them. There’s no doubt that both will have a great role to play in the upcoming years with the World Cup in mind.

Former Indian player Sunil Joshi has credited the domestic circuit and IPL behind Kuldeep and Chahal’s success. The former left-arm spinner was all praise for the spin twins who have been splendid throughout the season. He also didn’t forget to laud Virat Kohli and team management for their efforts in shaping them up.

The IPL has made Kuldeep-Chahal mentally strong

While Chahal was retained by Royal Challengers Bangalore, Kuldeep too was retained by the Kolkata franchise in the IPL auction. Both spinners have been a valuable asset for their sides in the IPL. Sunil Joshi felt that the IPL has played a huge hand in enhancing their skills.

“Both have played with and against certain batsmen in the IPL in India where the grounds are small and they’ve refocused their skill on getting the ball to turn. They’ve enhanced it by bowling the extra number of deliveries in the nets and during a match,” Joshi said.

Healthy competition between spinners is good

Currently, Joshi is a part of the Bangladesh camp as a spin bowling consultant. Ever since Chahal and Kuldeep entered the limited overs scene, they’ve kept the Ashwin-Jadeja pair isolated from the team. However, the 47-year-old felt that all these four spinners were in equal competition with each other, heading towards the 2019 World Cup.

“Healthy competition is always good. If India is looking at the 2019 World Cup, T20 World Cup or the Champions Trophy, it will surely bear in mind these four spinners – Chahal, Kuldeep, Ashwin as well as Jadeja.” he was quoted as saying by Sportstar Live.
