Former Pakistan cricketer Sarfraz Nawaz accuses Imran Khan of consuming drugs during his playing career
Sarfraz and Imran played together for Pakistan.
Former Pakistan cricketer Sarfraz Nawaz has made some serious accusations on his country’s current Prime Minister Imran Khan. Sarfraz has claimed that Imran, former Pakistan captain, used to consume drugs during his playing career. Both were the team’s premier bowlers during the late 1970s and 1980s even as Sarfraz has also said that Imran took drugs in London as well.
Sarfraz Nawaz recalled the time when the then Pakistan skipper didn’t bowl well while on England tour during a match and then had consumed drugs at that time. He also claimed that Imran Khan used to go to his home in Islamabad and had took charas once after the meals.
“He also snorts something. He (Imran Khan) has been consuming cannabis, he used to do it in London and even at my home. In 1987, when Pakistan faced England in a cricket match and he did not bowl well, he had come to my house and said along with Mohsin Khan, Abdul Qadir, Salim Malik in Islamabad for a meal and also consumed charas.
“He also snorts something and consumes cocaine as well. In London, he would roll something and snort it,” Sarfraz said in an interview.
I am not the only eyewitness, says Sarfraz Nawaz
Giving more details about the same, Sarfraz Nawaz also said that many in London were aware of Imran Khan being a drug addict then. Rather he also asked that Imran Khan won’t deny consuming drugs in front of him. “Bring him in front of me and let’s see if he denies it. I am not the lone eyewitness, there are many in London,” he further added.
This comes as a sensational revelation as Imran Khan is an inspiration to many in Pakistan. They won the World Cup under his captaincy in 1992. The pace bowling all-rounder went on to scalp 362 Test and 182 wickets in Tests and One-Day Internationals respectively. It will be interesting to see Imran comes out with an explanation over this accusation in the near future.
