Former Rajasthan Royals pacer Siddharth Trivedi leaves India, set to play for USA

We all have heard stories of how cricketers often leave one country to get opportunities to showcase their skills in another country. Recently, Smit Patel shut doors on his India prospects and is trying to find his feet in the West Indies and the United States of America. While there are hundreds of such players, one more player has now been added to the ever-growing list of cricketers.

Former Rajasthan Royals bowler Siddharth Trivedi has jumped into the bandwagon and is now all set to represent St Louis Americans in the Minor League Cricket in the United States, where the 38-year-old is there for the past one month and is vying for a dual role as a player-coach with American Cricket Academy and Club (ACAC).

Trivedi played for Gujarat in the Ranji Trophy but due to his dwindling chances of making it to the national team, he decided to channelize his energy on moving to the USA.

“It’s been a month now that I am here (in St Louis). I am part of the coaching staff at ACAC. They have a team (St Louis Americans) in the minor league and they have asked me if I can be part of the team as a player too. I thought why not,” Siddharth told Ahmedabad Mirror.

Siddharth Trivedi hopes to make his experience count

A pace bowler for his state team, Trivedi played a huge part in making Gujarat a strong domestic side. The 38-year-old was vying for an opportunity elsewhere for a long period of time, and he was impressed by what he saw in the Atlanta Premier League when he came in 2019. Now the pacer is focused on making the most of his resources by utilizing his past experiences in India.

“I first came here in 2019 when I played in the Atlanta Premier League. And from what I have seen then and now is that there is definitely a passion for the game. What impressed me the most is despite the weather, which allows only 2-3 months of outdoor play, people really worked hard and know how to utilize the time,” Siddharth said.
