There is something about left-handers and cricket. The Southpaws are known to have that elegance while playing their shots. Kumar Sangakkara, the left-handed batsman from Sri Lanka is one of the greatest players to have played the game. His contribution to Indian cricket is unmatched and unparalleled. Sangakkara had the ability to play big and long innings for his country matches after matches.

Since his retirement, Sangakkara has tried his hand at commentary and he also provides his valuable analysis on various cricketing subjects around the world. The 40-year old has arrived in India and will soon be seen in the commentary box during IPL matches. Sanga is considered to be the voice of cricket and the former wicketkeeper-batsman will also share his expert views before, during and after the IPL matches from the studio.

Excellent Orator

The southpaw made his commentary debut last year in the ICC Champion Trophy 2017. The legendary cricketer is known to have good oratory skills which were evident when he delivered the Cowdrey Memorial Lecture at Lord’s in the year 2011. Sanga is also in contention to deliver the Pataudi Memorial Lecture on the night of BCCI awards next month.

However, he may not accept the invitation as he is likely to be on Sky Sports commentary panel for the England matches against Pakistan and India.

Sangakkara played more than 500 international matches for Sri Lanka and has scored over 26000 runs for his team. He was the cornerstone of Sri Lankan cricket for close to 15 years.

Post his retirement, Sri Lankan cricket has failed to deliver results. The team is not in a good shape as it was during Sanga’s presence. He was an astute thinker of the game whose presence on the field brought calmness into the team unit.
