Galle Gladiators vs Dambulla Aura Head to Head Record in LPL History

Galle Gladiators and Dambulla Aura square off against each other in Match no. 20 and the last game before the Qualifiers in the ongoing third edition of the Lanka Premier League on Monday, December 19, 2022, at the R.Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. Both sides just met recently in Match no. 15 on the 17^th at the same venue where the Aura defeated the Gladiators by a margin of 48 runs.

Galle are having a disappointing season with just two wins out of the six games played.  They lost their opening two games to Kandy and Jaffna before registering back-to-back victories against Colombo Stars and Kandy. The Gladiators lost the plot again as they suffered defeats in their next two outings at the hands of Colombo and Dambulla.

On the other hand, Dambulla have had a devastating campaign as they have lost five out of the six matches played so far. They lost twice to Jaffna Kings and Colombo Stars with one loss coming against the Kandy Falcons. Interestingly, their only victory of the season came against Galle as mentioned above. With just two points and a net run rate of -1.696, Aura sits rock bottom of the table. (All scenarios till Match no. 16)

Talking about the Head-to-Head fixtures, both have met each other five times in the tournament with Gladiators emerging victorious just on one occasion. Aura have won thrice with one game ending up with no result. Notably, Galle is the runners-up of the previous two editions in 2020 and 2021 while Dambulla finished as semi-finalists two years back and on the third spot in last year’s campaign.

As mentioned above, both sides met two days back in Match no. 15 at the same venue where Aura won the encounter by a 48-run margin. They batted first and posted 178/5 on the board in their allotted 20 overs. Openers Shevon Daniel and Jordan Cox did the bulk of the damage as they struck 80 and 77 runs respectively. In reply, Lahiru Udana top-scored with his knock of 32 as no other player really got going. The Gladiators got bundled out for 130 with Pramod Madushan picking up 3/17 in his 2.4 overs spell.
