Gautam Gambhir was in the news during the first Test between India and Bangladesh in Indore. He was the part of the commentary team. At the same time, he was due to attend the crucial meeting of the Parliamentary Standing Committee of Urban Development over rising air pollution which he missed. There was a lot of controversy around the same while the pictures of him eating jalebis with VVS Laxman and others went viral as well to add fuel to the fire.

The former Indian cricketer was trolled over the same, even as Gambhir came out with an explanation that he was contractually obliged to commentate in the game. Moreover, he also slammed the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) for politicising the matter. Rather, in a recent interview, the left-hander has revealed that he is now petrified of jalebis after the controversy.

Gautam Gambhir, while speaking to India Today, revealed that he hasn’t eaten jalebi since the pictures went viral and also took a dig at AAP for turning it into a pointless controversy. He also urged everyone to judge him by his work and not such things.

Took one bite for a TV shoot, says Gautam Gambhir

“Don’t eat sweets. Hadn’t eaten a jalebi in months. Took one bite for a TV shoot and @AamAadmiParty turned it into a pointless controversy. Judge me for my work,” Gambhir said. Gambhir was the one who had slammed AAP for not taking the required steps in order to curb the pollution in Delhi.

The 38-year-old had earlier responded to all the accusations wittily stating that if the pollution in Delhi will decrease if he doesn’t eat the jalebis, then he will stop it forever. “If by me eating jalebi, the pollution in Delhi is increasing, I will stop eating jalebi forever.

“I was trolled within 10 minutes and if people would have taken the same effort in reducing pollution than trolling, we all could have breath fresh air,” Gambhir had said. Gautam Gambhir isn’t known to mince the words and even after joining politics, has continued speaking up openly about various issues.
