Indian cricketer Gautam Gambhir is known to carry his heart on his sleeve. Gambhir is never short on aggression and justifies his name to the fullest extent. Over the years, the cricket fans have seen how serious and vocal Gambhir gets when it comes to the issues he relates with. He has never been shy to voice out his opinion on critical matters. Recently, the Delhi batsman was seen hitting out at the radio stations on the 68th Republic Day of India. India celebrated its Republic Day on 26th January.

Apparently, the radio stations kept on playing patriotic songs on the day. Gautam Gambhir was left unimpressed with it. He was not annoyed because of the patriotic songs but rather for the reason that the radio stations played those songs only on that particular day. Gambhir, through his tweet, opined that it is sad that the patriotism for the Indians is only seen on the national holidays. “Every Aug 15th or Jan 26th FM stations play patriotic songs. Sadly all dat vanished next day. Why? @RadioMirchi @LifeCoachSharat @927BIGFM,” tweeted Gambhir.

Radio Mirchi, one of the most popular FM stations in India, was quick to respond to Gambhir’s words. They mentioned that some occasions deserve special celebration. Hence, the songs played on the day are only a way of celebrating the occasion. They wrote, “@GautamGambhir Some occasions deserve a special celebration, but imagine if your TV only aired Republic Day parade everyday.”

Gautam Gambhir did not hold back on shooting out another reply to the tweet by Radio Mirchi. He wrote back asking why can’t the patriotic songs be played at least once in a day. The romantic songs can be played all through the day, so why are the patriotic songs left only for the occasions, asked Gambhir. “.@RadioMirchi if romantic songs can b played

to the tweet by Radio Mirchi. He wrote back asking why can’t the patriotic songs be played at least once in a day. The romantic songs can be played all through the day, so why are the patriotic songs left only for the occasions, asked Gambhir. “.@RadioMirchi if romantic songs can b played everyday, no harm playing patriotic songs at least once a day! Is it that big a call???” Gambhir wrote back.

In response to this, Radio Mirchi posted a video in which they asked various people what patriotism meant to them. The video clearly tells how less the people think about patriotism in India. Not just Gambhir, anyone would feel let down seeing it. Perhaps, the move from the FM channel was uncalled for. Gambhir is yet to respond to the video.
