The Indian team came up with a thoroughly convincing win over England in the recently concluded Test series. The Virat Kohli-led side gave the visitors absolutely no chance to get back in the series. England had started off well with a good show in the first Test. Had there not been a defiant knock from skipper Virat Kohli, India could have well lost the match.

Since then, it has been India all over England in the series. India won the series 4-0 to continue their unbeaten streak to 18 Tests. The victory was big and so should have been the celebrations. No wonder why the entire squad posed for the champions picture after the conclusion of the post match presentation.

The players, who were a part of the series earlier but were ruled out due to injury, also made their presence count in the all smiling picture. Middle-order batsman Ajinkya Rahane was seen in the frame and so was Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who played just one match in the series. There was one player who missed out on being a part of the all important click.

Opening batsman Gautam Gambhir was nowhere to be seen in the picture. Even Hardik Pandya made sure that he is there for the big moment to cherish. Pandya did not play a single match in the series and was also released from the squad later due to an injury. Amidst such situation, the questions certainly rise as to why Delhi batsman Gautam Gambhir gave it a skip. The Indian players had no other commitments to be engaged with on the day.

With no domestic fixtures, they were all expected to arrive for the victory pose. Gambhir had played the first Test in absence of KL Rahul. However, he failed to impress. He was in the squad for the 2nd Test but was not included in the playing eleven. He was subsequently released from the side and later represented Delhi in the Ranji Trophy.

However, he took to his Twitter handle to wish the Indian team after the series victory, he wrote “Prolific with the bat, lethal with the ball and ruthless in the field. Deservedly number 1 in the world, congratulations India! #INDvENG”
