While South Africa play Australia in the First Test at Durban, an Aussie player who didn’t make it into the Test squad has an opinion on AB de Villiers’ disastrous run-out in the second innings. Glenn Maxwell, who is presently playing the Sheffield Shield back in Australia took to Twitter to express his opinion on the mix-up on crease during the 12th over.

South Africa was already on the back foot as they had to play a record-breaking innings to chase the colossal target down. By the time AB came to bat, South Africa was already 39-2. With him being run out on zero, it was almost curtains for South Africa. AB went for the run but was sent back by Aiden Markram and rightly so because there was no run there. And as you would expect someone like David Warner to do, he fired in a throw to the non-striker’s end. Lyon collected it and broke the stumps. AB dived and lost balance even before he reached the crease, hobbling on his knees.

Australia was pumped up and there was a rush of energy on the field after that big wicket. There was silence around Kingsmead. But, no one in Australia would have been quiet then. Maxwell took the opportunity to then say, “Thoughts in Markram’s head…*dont run out AB* *dont run out AB* *dont run out AB*….Oh no..Please no…..Sh*t.”

Here’s Maxwell’s tweet:

However, in reality, as many replied to him, Markram wasn’t at fault. People said that Markram had to wear the blame just because AB is a legend but it was AB himself who misjudged the run and ran himself out. Currently, South Africa’s chances are bleak with 4 batsmen back into the hut and a mountain of over 300 runs to scale.
