The Indian pacers have shown exemplary form recently in all formats of the sport. They ruffled the feathers of the South African batsmen throughout the entire duration of the Men in Blue’s tour of the Rainbow nation. The likes of Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Jasprit Bumrah, Hardik Pandya and Mohammed Shami played a crucial role in India’s stupendous run in South Africa.

Though India slumped to a series defeat in the Tests, the bowlers were outstanding and got the hosts on the mat on numerous occasions. They also carried forward their form in the ODI and T20I series. Recently, Glenn McGrath, the former Australian fast-bowler praised the Indian bowlers on their rich vein of form in a recent interaction with the media.

A challenging road ahead for India

“They say you can’t win Test matches consistently if you can’t take 20 wickets. The bowlers India have at the moment are looking good, especially (Bhuvneshwar) Kumar, Mohammad Shami, and Jasprit Bumrah as well as the spinners. Obviously, Pandya is doing his job as well. There is no shortage of bowlers. So things are looking good for India at the moment,” McGrath said

After a successful campaign in South Africa, India will travel England and Australia in July and December respectively where the pitches are most likely to be conducive to fast bowling. McGrath, who is also the Director of Coaching at MRF Pace Foundation, highlighted the conditions India would encounter in the two nations.

“It’s just about getting used to the conditions. We always say bowl with good control, hit the deck top of off-stump. In England, you have to hit that right length. There will be seam movement but the pitches won’t be as quick as what is in Australia. It is different to what it is in India. If they can adapt using that Duke Cricket balls, I think the Indian bowlers will enjoy bowling there,” the Kangaroo added.
