We got more from the T20Is than the ODIs: MS Dhoni
India beat the hosts Zimbabwe in the third and final T20I of the series with a narrow margin of 3 runs. It was a good effort from the bowlers after the batsmen managed to post a below par total of 138, with a 42-ball 58 from the player of the match, Kedar Jadhav.
Indian skipper MS Dhoni said that the team got more out of the T20Is, which is mainly because they were tested more in the T20 international series. He also credited Zimbabwe for putting up a good fight. Dhoni said, “Zimbabwe did well, bowled well. They need more games to get better. Difficult one, we did what was right to put in the opposition (in the ODIs).”
Talking about the performance of India’s fast bowlers, “Fast bowling department, we need a good pool of players. Now we can proudly say we have 10-12 players who can play. Important to turn up for India. Personally, I feel we got more from the T20s than the ODIs,” he said.
With 21 needed off the last over, Barinder Sran gave away 12 runs off the first 2 but held his nerves to bowl wide yorkers and in the end to halt Zimbabwe 3 runs off the target. He was also adjudged as the player of the series, who had picked up 6 wickets from his 2 matches. Sran asked his teammates for help to translate it for him, Mandeep Singh walked in to translate and here is what they said, “I had the confidence because the runs were too much. Initial plan was something else but then I changed it after the first 2 balls didn’t go too well.”

The Zimbabwe Graeme Cremer skipper is hopeful of getting better if they carry on playing and is happy that the T20 series was not one-sided as of the ODI series. “”Disappointing, but happy with the way the guys fought. One-day series was a tough beating. Nice to get a few more games. If we carry on playing, we’ll get better,” he concluded.
